Job Description

Section I: Scope

The Camino program at Manhattan College invites applications for ajunct professors in the following disciplines: English, Public Speaking, Organizational Leadership, and Communication. The courses begin in the Spring of 2020.

The Public Speaking course will highlight basic principles of oral communication before audiences in a variety of settings, with emphasis on performing and persuading. The course will focus on attention to research, rhetoric, logic, and the use of technology to enhance student's public presentation.

The successful candidate will have a record of effective college-level teaching and experience guiding first-year the college students. The successful applicant will be required to teach once a week in the Spring semester of 2019. The applicant should have experience working with ELL students.

Section II: Responsibilities

Reports to: Director of Camino Program

Supervises: N/A


  • Teach Associate level courses in English, Organizational Communication, Art History, Public Speaking and English. Also, the candidate will be expected to engage in service activities on campus with Camino students.
  • Attendance at programmatic/professional developmental meetings.
  • Collaborate with Camino academic coach to ensure student are advised and instructed regarding programs of study and effective study skills.
  • Observe and evaluate student performance in meeting course level objectives and student learning outcomes through assignments, projects, discussions, and examinations; provide feedback promptly to student inquiries in class, online, or during established consultation office hours.
  • Maintain current, accurate records of course enrollment, attendance student academic progress, course curriculum, and student learning outcomes; prepare and submit data and reports related to course and student progress in a timely manner.
  • Perform related duties as assigned.

  • Applicants must have a doctoral or masters degree in the appropriate subject area.
  • Candidates will be evaluated on the above criteria as well as their academic background and prior experience teaching English as a second language students.
